Theory & Practice of Oral History

This class was one of my favorites because I got to combine my anthropology and history backgrounds to uncover a dark story hidden within a small southern town in rural Georgia. Students underwent a series of class discussions and studied interview tactics to obtain the best data possible for their individual oral history essays, which could be presented as a paper, documentary, or podcast.
Through oral interviews, I investigated a murder case that took place in my mother's hometown in 1968 and remains unsolved to this day. Take a look at the interviews I conducted to gather as much information possible and help put the pieces together for the residents of Hartwell, Georgia.
